S. Salvator 1150

Saint Salvator abbey of Ename around 1150

The small Saint Salvator church is replaced in 1139 by an impressive Romanesque church, inspired by the abbeys of Cluny, Hirschau and Affligem. Around 1165, the first abbey buildings are replaced by larger and comfortable buildings in the new Gothic style.
